We are looking for trainees and translators!
In Germany
In the past months our travel information system www.baikalinfo.com has not only become more and more acquainted, but also more extensive. But we often face problems with the English page because of the constantly accruing list of articles which are to be translated.
Furthermore, the Great Baikal Trail project becomes more and more international, which is why there are permanently texts, press releases, and other information material to be translated into English.
For the amplification and support of our honorary team we are constantly looking for independent trainees who are conversant with travelling and interested in our projects.
The Baikalplan e.V. is a non-profit organisation with its domicile in Dresden. At present, our main projects are the further set-up of our travel information portal www.baikalinfo.com as well as the building of the Great Baikal Trail, a hiking trail along Lake Baikal, which is going to be 1800 kilometres (1100 miles) long in the future.
Depending on your personal tasks and interests you can either work at home (translations) or in our bureau. Minimum duration for a traineeship are 4 weeks. Unfortunately we cannot pay you an allowance, but we are pleased to help you finding cheap accommodation in Dresden.
What you can do and learn when working with us:
- translations German-English and Russian-German (mainly texts on our travel information portal)
- collaboration with press and publicity campaigns
- designing homepages (xml, html, php)
- collaboration in coordinating the 'Great Baikal Trail' and its volunteers
- collaboration in organising exhibitions
What kind of skills we expect:
- reliable handling of computers
- reliable appearance on the phone
We are not looking for copy helpers, but for people who tackle and realise projects themselves. Of course you are supported by us and we always pay attention that the work is not going to be monotonous. But you should be able to cope with being alone in the bureau every now and then, because it is true that we are an active group but we don't have full time employees!
Our bureau is located in the environment centre of Dresden, which is just a stone's throw away from the train station 'Mitte' and the Zwinger and the Semperoper of Dresden.
You are experienced in translating but don't have time for a traineeship!
You can help us nevertheless. All our texts that are to be translated at present are listed under http://2do.baikalplan.de . If you are interested, please write us a short e-mail, then you get the password you need in order to write your name behind the text which is to be translated. Thus we avoid a double translation of the texts!
